Part 14 Final

Reality

The darkness engulfed me....


I closed my eyes as my breath escapes from my lungs, my body felt cold as I continued to fall. How long will this fall be? Will it be eternal?

But as I thought that, I felt a sudden shift in the fall. I went to a stop, but I was floating in nothing but a black void.

But then a gap appeared and in it was Yukari, she smiled at me as if she was here to give me a reward.

"Well done Cathy, you have saved both worlds," she said in a soothing voice,

"Where are we, where am I?!" I cried, as I began to worry if I'll ever leave this place.

"We are at the end of the dream..." said Yukari, her happiness ended and became depressed as if it was hard to handle the truth.

"End... of the dream?" I said, as I began to float a little closer to Yukari.

She grew solemn, there was something she wasn't telling me...

"You see Cathy, everything that you have lived for the past few days was nothing but a dream I created for you..." explained Yukari,

I gasped, I floated back. Everything... was a dream? That's impossible!

"No, that's not true! I felt pain, I felt hunger, I felt everything, and my friends, they have to be real, right?!" I shouted, I know a little bit of Yukari, and I know she must be lieing!

"I'm afraid it is, the other four were also dreamers, so they are real... But they are too in the void of awakening..." said Yukari,

I raised up my hand, I was angry, I wanted Yukari to shut up! And so I got ready to fire a Master Spark!

"MASTER SPARK!"

Nothing happened...

"Wha-what?" I looked at my hand shaking. I then looked back at Yukari who was shaking her head.

"Your magic was also part of the dream, I'm afraid you will wake up as your normal self and no longer be Marisa Kirisame, same with your friends..."

Everything then went grey, everything I have been doing was but a dream... Not real, it never really happened...

"But I will tell you one thing, this was no normal dream, the border's incident was real but I needed to fix it from a dream for Gensokyo being a dream world," said Yukari as she twirled her parasol.

So, I was used as a tool then... But that's not important to me now, I just remembered something dear to me...

"Reimu! Where's Reimu, am I going to see her again?!" I cried, tears went down my face as I shouted her name.

"You mean Marry Adams? Oh she's fine, infact she is in the hospital you are currently in!" said Yukari, and then she opened a gap that revealed me in bed. There were bandages on my head.

"You were in a coma from your fall, you hit some trees during your fall lessening your impact damage, but you were still quiet in a predicament!" Yukari kept explaining things to me.

And then she moved the gap towards a girl with red hair who was injured all over. I remember the face, the hair, it was the girl who went by me when I was in the hospital... It was Reimu, no... Marry...

"She's waking up too, however the others are somewhere else in this world..." said Yukari as she closed the gap.

"NO!"

Yukari looked back at me from my sudden outburst,

"NO, I do NOT want to go back being Cathy Astra! I... I want to keep dreaming! I want to stay dreaming, along with Marry! No, Reimu!" I cried out, as if there were people around and I wanted them to hear me out.

But then Reimu, who was semi-transparent, appeared. I almost cried for joy, but the serious expression gave away the fact it was the REAL Reimu Hakurei.

"She can..." Reimu told Yukari, Yukari merely looked back at her and sighed.

"What?" I replied rather stunned by those very two words,

"She can go to Gensokyo, but it's risky..." said Reimu,

Yukari put her hand on her head and sighed, "No Reimu, it is not worth it..."

"What!? Tell me!!" I screamed, Reimu pratically plugged her ears from it.

"You see Gensokyo is a dream world filled with youkai and youkai are a type of obake, a spirit. More then half the percent of youkai in Gensokyo are the souls of people from the outside world..." Reimu started to explain, "And the fact you have been exposed to the 'magic' of Gensokyo, it is possible that on your death you will be reborn as a youkai there..."

"But why would you want to kill yourself? There's a chance that you might not go youkai..." said Yukari, trying to deny the possible choice.

"Oh just shut up!"

Both Yukari and Reimu looked at me shocked.

"The reason I got into this whole mess was because I WANTED to kill myself! Because the world I was in is cruel and boring! I want to go Gensokyo, even if I will no longer be human, I will at least have friends!" I shouted out,

Yukari once again sighed while Reimu smirked as if her side of the choice was surperior!

But then white flashes started to appear, Yukari walked into a gap along with Reimu, who materialized inside it, but before she closed it, Yukari said... "Good morning, Cathy.... Good bye, Marisa..."

Then the bright flashes turned the black void into white and everything disppeared...

Including my tears...


I woke up, I felt this terrible headache pulsing through out my forehead. I went and touched it, there were bandages. I got up and saw a bunch of equipment.

But then I took some of my hair and looked at it....

It was brown...

It was all but a dream to save the world inside out. Everything was a lie, except the close friendship I had with Reimu... er... Marry.

We were best friends, and she was my first true friend...

I was once again stuck back into the sour reality that I loathed...

But maybe it isn't all bad, Yukari did say that Marry was in this hospital. But as I tried to get up, a nearby nurse saw me and put me back into bed saying I just recovered, but I asked her,

"Is there a patient named Marry Adams here?"

The nurse looked at her clipboard... And then she nodded.

I sighed with relief, but this was not a full relief....


The next day I was up and ready to go, but before I did I found the room where Marry Adams was. Where my best friend was!

I looked inside to see a girl with red hair and green eyes, she looked at me as I came in.

"Who... are you?" said Marry,

I went closer to her, and then I said...

"Reimu?"

Her eyes widen, and then she said...

"Marisa?"

We both smiled and hugged each other in happiness. My parents came inside wondering why I wandered off. Then they saw the scene, me hugging a stranger. They gave strange looks to each other.

"Mommmy, Daddy, this is Marry my best friend in the whole world!" I said, Marry smiled as my parents wondered if I've lost my mind in the accident.

But then something occured to me, I grabbed Marry's hand and ran to the roof of the hospital! I locked the door with a left behind crowbar. What kind of person would leave behind a crowbar?!

Marry was startled at everything I was doing, but then I went to her and said, "Marry, we can go to Gensokyo!"

Marry gasped, and then she gave me a strange look.

"We can go... to... Gensokyo?" she said, I nodded.

"If we die, our souls will be recarnated as youkai in Gensokyo, the fact we were exposed to Gensokyo's inner power will make it a higher chance that we will!" I explained,

Marry just gave off a blank expression,

"So Marry, no, Reimu! Will you jump with me, the jump of judgement?" I said as I broke off some of the fence guarding the outside.

Marry looked at me as if I went absolutely mad! She took a few steps back in fear, I saw it in her eyes... she didn't want to die.

But then I remembered something as the door started to bang from behind. I took out a piece of paper from my pocket along with the pen my mother had and wrote a letter. I then slid the paper under the door, it grew quiet for a second, but then the banging got worse.

"Marry please! Come with me! You've always trusted me right?!" I cried,

That hit her, she then nodded and walked up to me and held my hand...

And we jumped...

The nostalgic winds of the fall blew into my face, even thought the fall was a fast current it felt so slow that my mind was behind time.

And then........

CRACK!!!

..........Mhmmm.........

uh...........ugh................

I'm...... alive?................


My eyes opened up, I looked up to see sakura trees surrounding me. I then got up and  looked around, did I make it? Or am I in the netherworld?

I got up and walked around, I then saw what appears to be a shrine up a flight of stairs of stone. It was the Hakurei Shrine.

I gasped and jumped for joy! I made it to Gensokyo! But.....

Where's Marry?

I looked around the trees, there was no sign of her, I kept searching until I came across the lake. Tears went down my face, I guess she didn't make it....

I slumped onto my knees near the lake, my tears fell into the cold waters. But then I wiped them away to see my reflection...

I looked down into the waters which started to calm down to see someone else other then me!

A young girl, with silver eyes and long blonde hair, wearing a black skirt with a pair of suspenders and a white shirt with a black bowtie. Also had white unattached cuffs on the wrists.

It was me... it was the youkai me...

I fell over, then revealing the fact I was wearing long black stockings and brown loafers. I was shocked on how different I looked, but I got back up...

This meant nothing to me if Marry isn't here...

"Marisa? Cathy? Either one?"

I knew that voice, I turned to see a girl in a blue kimono and had short light blue sleeves with longer white sleeves that appear too big coming from the shorter sleeves. She had black hair and had it tied in a frilly bow. She also had golden eyes.

I stood up and walked towards her, she stopped walking as she saw me coming towards her.

"Reimu? Marry? Either one?" I mimicked her,

Her eyes glittered after those word and she hugged me. I hugged her back. We both made it after all!

We both looked towards the horizon...


Our new life in Gensokyo now begins!
