Splicing

I opened my eyes to see a bright white light. Did I die or something? I can't remember, all I know is that I'm me.
My vision started to clear up, the light was the light from the ceiling. I felt something all over my body, what is it? It feels slimy...
But then the next thing I knew these people started to surround me, I couldn't hear what they were saying, everything was muffled. They started to reach out to me, they held me and put me into a gurney.
My hearing cleared up as well, however I was not listening to their words, just their voices. The sound banged against my head. I started to moan, but that just made things worse.
Everything was cold, so cold.... so cold...

I woke up again in a bed, is it a hospital bed? It feels like one...
I got up to find out I was wearing a hospital gown as well, was I in an accident and just had a bad dream... no, this room is not a hospital room. It was windowless, except for the one at the way top of the room, it was just a small window that let in little light. Everything looked like it could be made of glass. But what made me nervous was the metal door... it's window had bars.
I moved my body, I felt so weak. I raised up my hand, then my other hand. I turned around to see if I could walk. But the floors looked so glossy and slippery!
I put my bare feet on the ground, I stood still holding onto the bed. I walked into a smaller room that was connected to this room, I presume it is the bathroom.
I walked in and looked at the mirror, something was wrong with this picture...
My dark hair is white, or blonde white, no, a type of yellow-ish green. And my eyes... my eyes were red as blood.
I gasped a little, and I walked back to the bed and hid my face in the pillow. What has become of me? What made my hair green, what made my eyes red? And wait, my hair is long, last time I took notice it was rather short, was I out for a long time or something?
I then heard the door opening, I got up and looked over to see someone. It was a man in a lab coat. I looked closer at the man's face, and then I realized who it was.
"Daddy?" I gasped, he walked over to me with a sweet smile. His eyes were bright. I sat up and hugged him, I grabbed his lab coat and held him close to me.
"Daddy, where am I? I'm scared..." I cried, tears ran down my face.
Father bend over to face me and wiped off my tears. He just smiled at me. He was acting a little weird.
"Oh my darling Starr, I'm glad you turn out okay!" he said, but his words did not make much sense, what does he mean I turned out okay?
He then walked off and left the room, leaving me alone.... scared and confused...

It felt like hours, I just layed there in bed. I was so confused on what's going on. And why did daddy act so weird?
I started to cry again... But as I did I heard the door open again, I looked up and wiped my face to see a young women. She was rather beautiful, she had blonde hair and blue eyes. She seemed like she was in her 20s, and yet she seemed more mature then that.
"Hello Estelle, I see that you are finally awake!" said the woman as she brought in a bag and a clipboard.
"Please, don't call me that..." I groaned, I hated my name...
"Then what should I call you?" asked the woman innocently,
"Starr, that's what everyone calls me..." I said as I fiddled with my hair a bit.
"Okay, 'Starr', I'm here to do some tests... Would you mind sitting up straight for me please?" asked the woman,
I got up but before we started I asked, "What's your name?"
"I am Professor Dianna, I work with your father... Now look at the light" said the women, and then she took out a small flash light and flashed it in my eyes back and forth.
After that I blinked a little as she wrote something down on the clipboard.
"Now, are you able to hear this?" she said, and then she took out a strange metal whistle.
But when she blew on it, a loud screeching noise filled my ears, I shouted "Stop it, stop it" as hard as I could as I held them! I thought they would start bleeding any second now!
She stopped blowing on the whistle and wrote on the clipboard again. She then asked me to move my limbs. I did so, even though I still felt a little weak, she told me it was to be expected.
After a couple of more tests, she finally finished. But before she left, I grabbed her sleeve and asked this...
"What happened to me?"
She didn't say anything for a moment, but then she finally said, "You're clothes are in that bag, get dressed when you can..." And then she left....
I punched the pillow, what has happened to me?! Why won't anyone tell me!? I'm so confused!!
I continued to punch the pillow hard till I finally grew tired, I fell onto the bed and sighed. Tears were starting to form again in my eyes.
I went ahead and grabbed what was in the bag, it was a white skirt with black lace and a grey top. I found black shoes in the bag as well. I went into the bathroom and changed, with my own face haunting me in the mirror.
I walked out, fully changed, and as I did there was a knocking on the door, and then daddy came out with another smile on his face.
"Hello Starr, I see that you're dressed, can you come with me?" he said as he reached out a hand. I took it and let him walk me through the halls.
"Starr, something amazing happened to you!" said daddy as we walked the white halls. I just looked at him strangly.
"You see Starr, for a long time we were trying to complete the perfect creature... But many times we have failed..." said father as he started to type in a code to open a door.
But as a door opened, so did a door to a nightmare!
I gasped as I saw disgusting, freakish creatures before me! Creatures that appeared half mammal half reptile, something part dog, part bird. And a disgusting snake and wolf like creature.
I grasped onto my father as we walked the hellish hall.
"Daddy! What are those things?!" I cried in fear as one of them started to bark fiercly at me!
"They are chimeras, created through splicing DNA..." he explained,
I grew worried, however fear still beated my heart faster then anything!
"However, all of them are nothing but just some experiments, nothing that is worthy of a project creature..." sighed daddy,
I started to shiver, why am I shivering?!
"But then we found out what we were missing! Human DNA!" blurted out my father,
I gulped as I looked at my hands... Does he mean...
"But, not just human DNA, no, we needed a human base!" shouted my father, which caused some of the chimera to stop barking, hissing, and chirping.
"A-a-a-a-a human base, as in a human body?" I whimpered,
"Yes, correct... Now follow me," said daddy as he grabbed my hand. He then took me at the end of the hall into some kind of room filled with capsules. Some of the capsules had some freakish creatures in them with the capsule filled with some green fullid.
I started to walk closer to father until we finally reached what seems to be a Mother computer. He then put in some disc from a folder he took from a drawer nearby. The disc started to play a camera shot. It showed a capsule with a girl in it. All of a sudden the capsule's liquid was drained and the girl fell to the ground. People started to surround her, but then that's when the nightmare really began!
"THAT'S ME!!!!" I screamed in horror!
"Yes, you are the perfect chimera! With the ability to morph into a half-breed of four different animals!" exclaimed daddy,
I was so startled that I tripped over my own feet, I back away from daddy as far as I could!
"Dear what's wrong?" said daddy,
"You! You! You turned me into a monster! I can't believe you went so far to experiment on your own daughter!" I cried,
"Oh, dear please do understand, it was the best for mankind's devolpment into the-" said father but I intrupted him, "For mankind!?! For MANKIND?!?! I'm not even part of mankind anymore thanks to you!"
Daddy then tried to reach out to me, but I slapped his hand away and ran off!
I ran and ran, I ran past the capsules, I ran past the chimeras, and I ran past my room. I continued to run until some professors came and blocked my way! I grew scared, I'm an experiment to them and so far I'm on the lose and they're going to cage me just like all the other chimeras!
"Please, don't hurt me!" I cried, I fell over and put my hands on my head. I was just so scared
"There there honey, it's okay!" said Dianna who came to my side, "It's okay to be scared, but there isn't really any need to!" She then held me in her arms, I grabbed her lab coat and snuggled my face in it. I just need some kind of comfort!
For all I know, I'm not human anymore, at least not all human!
"There there dear, just relax and I'll take you to your room and tell you everything..." said Dianna, and then she started to carry me to my room.
She placed me in the bed and then she sat down.
"You see dear, we were given the project to create a humanoid beast. Something that can use the power of animals. Yet, we needed a young body and so your father decided to use you, I know, it's cruel for him to do such a thing... but I might as well tell you what you are. You are a chimera with five different types of blood flowing in your vains. You part fox, snake, bat, and bird... and human...." explained Dianna,
For some reason I stopped shaking and I felt no longer confused as she explained. However it didn't change the fact I'm a monsterous chimera!
"Now, there is something I must tell you, you may have increased hearing along with extra gifts being what you are now. You even have the power to transform into half human half animal form, but I must warn you. Never transform with all four, it may lead to something dreadful!" warned Dianna,
I nodded,
"Now dear, I still see you as a poor human girl, and so I will treat you the same. However most of the other professors might not, so becareful!" said Dianna, and then she patted my head and left the room, where I was once again alone...

I looked at my hands, I didn't feel different really, but I am... When she said I can be a half beast, just how do I do it?
I strained my head a little, trying to see if something would happen. But nothing... I tried a little more, nothing....
"How do you work this?!" I groaned, and then I started to focus calmly, all of a sudden something felt weird on my head. I went and touched my head to see if something was there. I felt something soft, and it twitched as I touched it.
I looked into the bathroom mirror to see what I did to myself.
What I saw was that my hair was no longer green, it was a orange blonde, and I had fox ears on my head! I gasped as I held them. But then I felt something brush up against my legs! I looked behind me to see a fox tail!
I started to freak out major time! This was a bit too much for me to handle!
I ran back into the bed and closed my eyes hoping I'll revert if I just relax myself. I took a small nap...
I woke up, I stretched a little and sighed. I went ahead and patted my head, the ears were still there!
I turned around and saw the fluffy fox tail there!
I sighed and held my tail in my arms. It was really soft...
I started to cry... How do I turn back?
But then Dianna came into the room, she gasped a little at my current state. But then she went up to me and touched my ears a little.
"Looks like you managed to turn part fox..." she said,
"Yeah but I don't know how to turn back..." I whimpered,
"Just calm your mind and remember what you looked like before you took on this form..." whispered Dianna,
I did so, I closed my eyes and pictured myself, only with the long green hair and red eyes... I felt something happening to me, I could just feel it!
I opened my eyes, to see the tail and ears gone!
Dianna smiled at me, "Now wasn't that so hard, now remember you can become part snake, bat, and bird too!" she said,
I nodded, and then she went ahead and left the room... I felt lonely...
There was nothing to do in the small glossy room... Nothing to play with, nothing to draw with, nothing... I sighed and moaned...
But then I saw Dianna come in with some food, I just now realized that I was really hungry.
"Well, dear, here's your lunch!" she said as she entered with the tray of food,
It was just some hospital food, but I was hungry! I pratically devoured everything!
But as I did something felt itchy on my hands and legs. I started to scratch them a little only to find out something wasn't right!
I looked at my hands, they were covered in green scales! I looked under the tray on my lap to see I have a very long tail too! I started to shiver...
Dianna said, "Well, looks like you activated your snake part somehow, maybe because your ability to eat anything now,"
"Snakes can't eat anything, I mean, not everything!" I shouted, I felt so uncomfortable right now!
"Oh, it's just something that was mixed in, now just relax, if you don't like what you appear to be right now just do what you did last time!" said Dianna,
I focused on my body again and the scales and tail disappeared. I rubbed my once again smooth hands. I sighed and then I started to eat my food more calmly.

I sighed as I finished my food... Dianna grabbed the tray and headed for the the door, but before she did she said, "You know, this isn't a cage, you are free to walk about the lab as you please..."
I thought about what she said, I guess that means I can go wherever I like, or something...
I got out of bed and walked up to the door, I paused as I held the handle. It felt a bit scary not being escorted or something... But I'm bored to death here! And so I opened the door, it was a tad heavy. I looked around to see if anyone was watching, even though I don't have to sneak around or anything!
I began to walk in the halls of the strange labs, I was still very uneasy walking around by myself...
I then found the door to the chimera room, I don't remember the password to open the door, but then again I don't want to! The hallway was a nightmare room!
I began to walk the other way and pass my door again, but then I took a closer look at my door. It had some numbers on it unlike the other doors... Is this a code for me or something? Are they really treating me like an animal?
I sighed and continued my walk, I saw a professor stare at me. I grew very nervous...
I don't know if it's worth it to walk out of the room since it just makes me feel so scared! I just wish I had someone to company me...
But then I heard some strange noises from around the corner, I walked carefully to see what was going on. I gasped as I saw two professors trying to take down a powerful looking chimera. But the thing escaped the men and started to run after me!
I stood there in panic, I couldn't move! I felt like a deer that was about to be hit by a car!
The thing ran closer to me, closer and closer! Until I finally managed to scream. But something wasn't right!
My scream was so loud it shattered the glass windows, the beast stopped in it's tracks whinning in pain from the sound while the professors were holding their ears from it!
I stopped screaming, I wonder what I just do... I then felt something was a little weird.. I must've changed again...
I looked behind me to see pair of wings. I felt my head, and my ears were large bat ears. I kneeled down and started to cry again. But this time it was because I was so scared of the chimera. It was sending a shock through out my whole body!
A professor came up to me and asked, "Are you okay, did the beast hurt you?" I looked up to see the man, but then I turned my head to look at the poor chimera, it was wiggling in pain, I saw some blood coming from it's ears.
The professor noticed as well and changed all his attention to the poor creature. I just got up and tried to walk away, but my legs were so shaky, I couldn't walk... I began to cry again... I just feel so alone and pathetic...
But then someone walked up to me, I looked up to see Dianna again.
"Starr, I heard some kind of screeching and well, seeing as you are in your bat form I can tell where it cam fr_" before she could finish her sentance, I went and hugged her for comfort.
She bent over and picked me up. I held close to her, I was so scared... I'm just so scared and yet no one cared! Except for Dianna, she held me close as I held onto her. She comforted me when I needed it.
"There there, it's okay, don't cry. You must've been very frightened from that chimera that was unleashed," said Dianna, she then started to carry me back to my room.
She put me in bed and put the sheets over me.
"Now get some rest, you'll feel better!" said Dianna, and then she brushed my hair back as she left.
"Also, you've reverted back if you didn't notice, just want to make you aware of that, that's all!" she said, and then finally left.

I woke up after taking a slight nap, I felt alot better with my head alot clearer. I stretched myself out and sighed. I looked all over my body for extra animal parts, but there wasn't any, that's good.
I feel so weird now, I don't know how to describe it. I wonder if I'm still classified as a human being, or am I no different then the beastly chimeras that I've seen in the labs? I little scared on how people will treat me now, so far I was able to tell from the professor's reaction towards me and the chimera. He did look like he wasn't seeing me as a human being... I could tell...
I got out of bed and began to walk into the bathroom, I looked at myself through the mirror. I look human, but I'm so different, I'm a chimera....
I groaned as I walked back outside of the room into the hallway. I walked down the halls hopeing I don't have another encounter with a chimera.
I saw a professor walking by and I waved to him shyly, however he didn't flinch. I just watched him walk by. I guess it's really true what Dianna said, that the professors here won't identify me as a human.
I guess Dianna has been being nice to me because of that, I wish I can repay her kindness. She's been trying hard to make me happy, I just know it!
And so I ran back into my room and tried to search for something good to give to Dianna, but I'm afraid that there was nothing, I have nothing....
I sighed, I got on the bed and just sat there depressed... But then the bright light of the window above me shone. I just recalled, I can fly right? I mean I'm part bat! I should be able to get high enough to reach the window, and it looks like I might fit through!
I strained myself real hard, I focused all over my body. I felt something change, but it didn't feel bat...
I felt my ears, they were feathery, and I turned around to look at my wings. They were made out of feathers too! I looked at my hair through the bathroom mirror, it was white. I sighed, I can't get things right... however I can fly none of the less... right?
Just how do I fly?
I started to flap my wings, however it was just gushing some wind into my face... I flapped harder! I felt my body becoming lighter! I flapped as hard as I could until I started to go up. I managed to get into the air, but I don't know how to move.
I tried to do some kind of swimming pattern, but it made me unbalanced. I tried to angle my wings a bit till I finally managed to grab onto the window. I easily knocked out the glass and jumped right out!
I was on the first floor so the fall wasn't very hard...
I got up while rubbing my sore behind... I then looked around to see if there's anything I can find.
I spotted some flowers growing nearby the labs, they were beautiful wild flowers! I went over and picked as many as I can carry to make a beautiful boquet!
But then I heard the sounds of an alarm blaring...
I started to panic! They found out I'm missing already? Someone must've walked in while I was away!
I hurried back towards the window and flew up! I squeezed through the window and back inside. All of a sudden a bunch of professors with tranquilzer guns came in!
I sat there quietly holding the flowers close to me.... I was so scared with those things being pointed at me!
The professors lowered their weapons, some grumbled while others sighed...
But then Dianna came in, she was in panic.
"Starr?! Starr?! Are you okay?!" panicked Dianna, I nodded and gave her the flowers.
"I went outside to pick some flowers for you, since you were being so nice to me I had to repay the favor!" I said,
But some of the professors started to talk over about something, Dianna sighed and took the flowers.
"You.. musn't ever leave the labs... ever.... I'm sorry..." said Dianna,
"What?" I whimpered,
"You are a chimera that is to never be unleash into the public... I am so sorry..." said Dianna, and then she left... Along with the professors...

The next day, they barred up my window to prevent me from escaping...
Why would they lock me up? I mean I'm just a little girl, I have a future! Or is my future to be forever in these walls? I grew scared, I covered my blanket over my body as I lied down. I whimpered...
I then decided to get up and see if I can do something around here, luckily they didn't lock the door.
I went out of the room to see if I can find something to do, but... there was pratically nothing...
I then came across my father talking to a strange man, I turned towards the corner. But I wanted to listen to what they were saying so I went bat form. It was alot easier doing it the second time.
"Yes the first perfect chimera escaped, but she came back! So there aren't any problems," said my father,
"But it might try to escape again, it is best if you give her to us now..." said the strange man,
"But sir, you do know that she is my daughter, I cannot leave her side!" said father,
I pouted, 'can't leave my side', he's either being fatherly or being proud of his work!
"Daughter or not, she belongs to us if she ever does another escape!" said the man,
"I know she is to be sold soon, but I want to keep her here as long as possible!"
SOLD?! My own father is going to sell me!? I guess EVERYONE really does think of me nothing more then an animal...
Tears ran down my face, the fact I was just an animal to them... just some beast! I.... I'll.... I'll show them... no... I'll punish them!
I went towards the chimera room, I smashed the keyboard to release the door! I looked at all the monsterous beasts, one started to bark at me but after one evil glare the thing whimpered with it's tail between it's legs!
"I'm going to free all of you, and do what you wish to the stupid humans!" I said, and then I hit the release switch causing all the cages to open. The alarm went off along with the chimeras.
All of a sudden, something inside of me felt like it broke...
Pain shifted through out my body! I fell to the ground in agony...
I looked at my hands, they were covered in white scales, I had a long snake tail also white, and wings that were feathered on top, bat-like on the bottom. And I had fox ears on my head while my human ears became long elf-like ears.
I became a true chimera, my true form...
I stood up and saw my monsterous self... I clutched my fists, and ran for it!
I saw chimeras attacking professors, some trying to eat at others.
I saw my father almost being torn apart by two of them. But then as I ran I came across Dianna who looked at me with fear.
"Estelle... Don't tell me, you did this?" she said,
"I'm sorry Dianna, but they must be punished!" I growled, despite my voice was still rather normal even in my disgusting form.
Dianna just stood there with tears in her eyes...
I just brushed past her and continued to run to the exit!

I escaped... But then everything went black...

I moaned as I turned my body over, I was aching. I got up and fluttered my eyes a bit. I looked around me to see I was in a forest... Just what happened? All I recall was trying to escape, but how did I end up in a forest?
I looked all over myself to see I've returned to my humanoid form. Despite the fact I am no longer monsterous looking, I was still alone and scared in a place I have no idea about...
I bundled myself under a tree. I shivered from the chilly winds... I began to cry again, I wonder if this forest is suppose to be my habitat... Such a scary thought of being distingushed no different then an animal...
But then I heard foot steps! Some one was coming! I merely tighten myself into a ball, trying to make myself tiny.
As the foot steps got closer, a white-haired boy appeared. He looked at me with worry...
"Hey, you okay?" he said,
I started to bawl...
"It's okay, it's okay! Will you tell  me what's wrong?" he asked,
"I'm all alone, I have no home and I'm so scared!" I cried,
The boy smiled and then reached out a hand...

"Don't worry, you'll live with me! By the way, my name is Arthur what is yours?"
